I already wrote years ago that Pokémon Go is essentially a spy app, with useful idiots running around for an agency, showing what is going on in different areas. Now there are claims coming out suggesting that it is true that the US military has used Pokémon Go as a way to map the world.
And honestly, I doubt it has stopped. There are still enough useful idiots out there who would walk straight into crisis zones with their smartphones just to catch some rare Pokémon.
If I remember correctly, in the article years ago, I mentioned that this app could be used to track down political dissidents, while governments in many so-called democratic countries were becoming more dictatorial. I don’t remember writing about military use, but apparently that is the case as well.
