Determinism and Free Will.
Determinism is proven false, as it is theoretically possible to build a machine that, after calculating the future, acts exactly contrary to the prediction, thus breaking determinism. Does this also prove the existence of free will?
Arguments for absence of free will are arguments in support of violence, slavery, wars, etc., because in that case nobody is responsible for their actions. The fact that we are able to decide to fight against injustice, talks in support of free will, not against it.
If the human society was to agree that anyone who denies the existence of free will should have no legal protection against the actions of others — since, by their own argument, nobody is acting willingly — this could bring an end to the propagation of that philosophical worldview. If someone cites science as the basis for their view, it should suffice to point out that the absence of proof for free will is not evidence of its nonexistence.
It is only arrogant to claim that science is unable to proof the existence of free will and thus it doesn’t exist, it equals to claim that science knows everything and there is nothing more to discover.
