Visitors from outer space.
Alien visitors to our planet don’t necessarily need to be far more advanced than our civilization or millions of years ahead in knowledge. They could belong to a civilization that is just a few scientific breakthroughs ahead, giving them an edge in space travel. At the same time, they might lack knowledge in other areas, including biology, and thus be as mortal as humans — susceptible to illness, mental health issues, or physiological limitations.
These aliens could even originate from Earth, having departed before a global cataclysm, leaving behind numerous traces of their advanced civilization in the form of stonework scattered across the globe. If we are gone, then in just a few thousand years, only stones from our civilization will remain, while other materials will have weathered away. Their civilization might have survived elsewhere in the universe and could now simply be curious about what’s happening here on Earth. This wouldn’t mean they possess unlimited powers or technology vastly beyond ours, apart from perhaps being more efficient at space travel. Their visits to Earth could represent the peak of their engineering capabilities — still subject to failure. Reaching us might stretch the limits of their resources, which may be scarce in their current environment. Their visits could be motivated by survival, driven by challenges they face themselves.
With all that in mind, we should approach such encounters with caution, but also with a spirit of mutual respect — open to exchanging knowledge and technology on equal footing, not from the perspective of a weaker species stranded on Earth. It doesn’t help to lie to ourselves — believing we are inherently weak is mistaken, just as believing we are ready to establish colonies on other planets with current technology is unrealistic.
First, we should focus on reaching the Moon — truly, not again as a political performance. The biggest obstacle, among several others, is the cosmic radiation beyond the protection of Earth’s magnetic field. It is still as deadly as before, and as long as it remains unresolved, trips far away from Earth can only be taken by robots. This doesn’t mean we should stop developing rockets capable of such missions. A single breakthrough — either in genetic manipulation, protective materials, or artificial magnetic fields — could solve this problem, and when that happens, the technology of spaceships must have been tested in principle. We should not waste time, and again, we should not lie to ourselves neither. Apart of deadly radiation in space, solving the issue of self-sustaining habitats is another great challenge, attempts of which have so far failed.
The worst thing is to lie to young people — the future scientists and engineers — as they may waste their lives with a flawed understanding, being misled and thus failing to produce the necessary advances in science and technology, believing that we’ve already figured everything out. To reach outer space far away from Earth and to live there without constant supplies from where they departed, is still not possible.
No less importantly, we must focus on developing transformative technologies that will enable large-scale space travel across the universe. Relying solely on incremental improvements may not buy us enough time to survive — whether on Earth or nearby planets. The entire solar system could be erased by a single cosmic event, meaning nearby planets are not a truly secure bet for the survival of our civilization.

/ note: i’m posting new articles only on the OLD.RIP blog — no longer sharing on other platforms. i do not have any social accounts related to the OLD.RIP name. with my old ‘youthextension’ wordpress blog i did try out many social platforms — all discontinued years ago. no more time to do the same with OLD.RIP blog. in some cases i use ‘archive.org’, ‘youtube.com’, ‘rumble.com’, or other accounts — not under OLD.RIP name — while sharing files here. i am not using for communication social sharing or calling or messaging apps but only regular email service and regular cellphone service. keeping it to minimum — got life to live. /
