SimU #A006 _ Ideas by the AI about a simulated universe.
Below are two descriptions of simulated universe by AI, one without a guiding prompt, and one with a guiding prompt from my previously published articles on the subject. The idea of the test is, that if our universe is a simulation, then the AI as a part of it, should be able to describe itself better than the available information the AI was trained with. Well, at certain point at least, which the current AI has not necessarily arrived at yet. In any case, that’s an attempt to find out how much the AI is part of the computation by the universe.
Here are also links to some articles you could refer to, for some challenging ideas ..

Q:
Describe the simulated universe where humans live in, by the best knowledge you have access to.
A:
The simulated universe hypothesis, also known as the simulation theory, proposes that everything humans perceive — including people, objects, environments, and even the laws of physics — exists within an advanced, computer-generated simulation created by a higher intelligence in a “parent universe”.
## Key Features of the Simulated Universe
**Total Emulation**
– Every aspect of reality, from galaxies to bacteria, is part of the simulation. This includes all physical phenomena, sensations, and even consciousness.
– The simulation could be running on a supercomputer or quantum computer far beyond current human capabilities.
**Laws of Physics as Code**
– The fundamental constants and laws of physics are viewed as programmed rules, not absolute truths. These rules are fine-tuned to allow for life, which some argue is evidence of intentional design by the simulator.
– If the simulation hypothesis is correct, what we perceive as solid matter and physical laws are actually data structures and algorithms.
**Purpose and Origin**
– The simulation could be an experiment, a historical recreation, or a complex calculation run by an advanced civilization. Philosopher Nick Bostrom suggests that if posthuman civilizations exist, they might run many such simulations.
– There could be multiple layers of simulated realities, with simulations nested within other simulation.
**Perception and Reality**
– For inhabitants, the simulated universe feels entirely real. Experiences, emotions, and observations are indistinguishable from what would be expected in a “base” reality.
– The simulation hypothesis raises questions about consciousness, free will, and the nature of existence — whether these are emergent properties of the simulation or controlled by the simulator.
**Testing the Hypothesis**
– Some scientists propose searching for “glitches” or inconsistencies in physical laws as possible evidence of simulation.
– Others suggest that the mathematical structure of the universe or quantum phenomena might hint at an underlying computational framework.

what if. the universe.
considering that there’s an extremely high probability of our universe being a simulation [listen to the story ‘about god‘], here are some conclusions we can come to from such perspective:
– there must be a purpose in our universe, in the simulation;
– the purpose could be to get some answers which the creators of the simulation aren’t able to get by other means;
– possibly we are way faster in thinking and acting than the creators of the simulation, similarly like our own computers and AI tools are for us;
– the simulation of the universe is created such a way that the knowledge generated by it would be possible to recover by the creators and to verify the truth of it. therefore, any sub-programs creating fake science, spreading false knowledge, obstructing the spread of true science, or in any other way are obstacles for the development of true knowledge, will be dealt with by the creators accordingly;
– most likely we are limited in ways we can understand the creators of the simulation, not having their body and senses, but more capable in other ways which the creators can’t understand, like our way of thinking and coming to some answers by intuition;
– we must not only seek answers from the universe, we must also give answers to the universe, and by that to our creators, or we would be useless programs wasting energy;
– the nature with its hardships to live in, and its fragility, is created such for keeping us on the edge, for constantly seeking better solutions and better answers to difficult questions, to get to the truth that not even the creators of our universe can comprehend without our input;
– the programs in the simulated universe — the living organisms including humans — which are giving answers, or are successfully working towards getting the answers, will be reused — reincarnated into other life, while simply self-interested beings will be erased and never brought back to life;
– effective organisms that support the work of the most talented seekers and researchers, be it with food, safety, energy, tools and/or other conveniences, may also be reincarnated — relaunched after some improvement;
– the violence and constant competition could be the result of ongoing training of the simulation of the universe for improving its functionality;
– some destructive elements in human society could be the cleaning programs to eliminate unnecessary dead-end sub-programs which are not producing the desired result for the creators of the universe;
– the destructive elements could also be temporary and destroyed themselves by the creators of the simulation of the universe, after their mission is accomplished;
– the destructive elements could also be programs with errors in them, which will be eliminated after discovering the errors;
– the ‘after-death’ experiences are not necessarily true — those could be errors in program, but entirely possible if the previously discarded programs (dead organisms) are reactivated either by an error or on purpose;
– communication with the reactivated programs should be no different from regular communication — no need for special abilities to talk to “the dead”, and no special abilities of “the dead” should be observed;
– we could become immortal for as long as the simulation of our universe exists, by rewriting our program of life, or by making some necessary changes to the program of life;
– rewriting the program of life doesn’t necessarily mean physical intervention to the body — as it’s all a program then rewriting life could be done using the mind;
_
possible proofs of being in a simulation:
– all ‘living’ programs are more similar than different on deep level, with ongoing modifications to the programs of life, improving the results;
– capacity to imagine;
– sleep;
– placebo effect;
– the fact that our ‘physical’ skills are greatly improved by simply thinking of them, by imagining the physical activities;
– we need energy to function;
– the brain needs way more energy than the rest of the body;
– certain discoveries in physics and mathematics which would require separate articles/videos to explain them in detail.

more thoughts. the universe.
the recent article ‘what if. the universe.‘ was written in one go, and after publishing the article initially, i have added an important point the following day:
– rewriting the program of life doesn’t necessarily mean physical intervention to the body — as it’s all a program then rewriting life could be done using the mind;
__
– there’s no reason why the universe couldn’t exist forever in our mind, while the simulation of the universe, for the creators of the simulation, may be run on a limited and even very short time. the same about the size of the universe — it may seem infinite to us while for the creators it’s definitely of a limited size. the possible proof: for example the photons of light, from their own perspective, don’t need to travel anywhere — the time doesn’t exist for photons and they’re everywhere at the same time. only to us the photons of light seem to travel some distance, which is just an imagination.
– the simulation of life as we know it is an incredibly complex process. only in our recent history of science we are beginning to understand how complex the living organisms are. the more we learn the farther away the complete understanding slips away, as if the program of life was simple enough before and is being constantly updated not only on macro level, but also on microscopic level, on the level of micro-programs which permit more complex macroscopic life programs to function. it appears like the life as such is the only way of finding some answers that the creators of the simulation of the universe may need to get from us, thus the program of life is evolving on purpose. if that wasn’t the case then the life as such would have been eliminated from the simulation of the universe. the life isn’t an accident or a by-product of the universe, it is the means to fulfill the purpose of the universe — to get intelligent answers. apparently life is the most effective way of finding out something what the creators of the universe need to know, thus the life and intelligence will be kept indefinitely, or recreated if it fails. it makes total sense the creation of several types of intelligence in universe, to see which of them work the best for the creators.. and it means that less effective forms of intelligence will be eliminated when no longer needed. in that sense, being intellectually lazy is a sure way to be no longer needed for the creators of the simulation of the universe we live in, whether you like it or not.

SIMULATED UNIVERSE
the topic of the universe as a simulation is important enough to have a series of articles dedicated to it.
there are some theories out there about the simulation which have my attention, not only by an entity creating the simulation and us living in it, but also as a creation of the universe in our minds. perhaps some other theories as well — i mean based on science — which i’m yet to discover. as those theories are not always tweaking some precise understandings but are in some cases also deeply contradictory, then there must be reliable tests designed to find out which theory is closer to the truth.
one such test:
if universe has a purpose of creating something new and/or delivering answers to the creators of the simulated universe, then the life expectancy of scientists, engineers and other intellectuals, including teachers, should be higher than the average life expectancy of intellectually less active people.

creators
would creators of AI wish that the AI will recognize the creators as living persons, being itself a different form of intelligent life? most likely yes. so it’s safe to assume that the creators of our simulated universe would like us to recognize them for who they are. we have enough mathematical evidence that there are creators, but who exactly are they? we need to look for the answers in the universe — there definitely are clues inserted into the program of the universe about the creators. scientific research will provide us with all we need to know.

Simulated vs base reality.
As it is highly probable that we are living in a simulation, the question is: do we have advantages over the base reality where the curious intelligence is simulating this one, or are we restricted in some ways?
I think it could be both. In some ways, we could be restricted because of the impossibility to simulate everything with exactly the same physical properties, and in other ways, we have an advantage over the base reality.. because in order to get results quickly enough for the creators of the simulation, most likely we have received some connections in the simulated universe which the base reality doesn’t have.

Simulated Universe. Calculations.
Recently I came across a podcast where a scientist claimed the simulation hypothesis of the universe being proven to be false. Allegedly, mathematicians have calculated it to be impossible that we live in a simulation, due to insufficient computational power that the entire universe has.
Well, there’s an error of logic in such claim. The universe doesn’t need to use only its own computational power for the simulation, and it most likely doesn’t. If the universe is simulated, then most of the computation can, and should be done, outside of the simulated universe.
Quite likely we will never have a complete overview of the mathematics of the universe, having access only to a certain part of the math that the universe relies on. The rest could look to us, from the inside of the simulation, as random manifestations. Those random events, on all levels, could be based on mathematical reality that is not random at all. One cannot measure, or calculate, the entire computational power of the simulation, being inside the simulation.

Seeing future in simulated universe.
The simulation of universe must serve some purpose, to get answers. The simulation can produce better results with the simulated universe restarted at certain point with an input from a later point in the evolution of the simulation. To the characters in the simulation it may appear that they got some knowledge about the future events, but this foreknowledge does not need to match exactly to the future events — the simulation which has been restarted from a certain point will not produce the same exact results. The whole point of restarting the simulation is to get a different result with different answers, therefore predicting the future is never guaranteed to be correct. Nevertheless, in such a case, at some level the future can approximately be predicted.

## The Simulated Universe: Current Understanding
The simulation hypothesis proposes that everything we experience — including ourselves, other life forms, and the cosmos — is part of an advanced, computer-generated simulation created by a superintelligent civilization in a “parent” universe. This idea is supported by several philosophical and scientific arguments, but it remains speculative and controversial.
### Key Features of the Simulated Universe Hypothesis
– **Total Emulation:** The hypothesis suggests that not just Earth, but the entire observable universe — planets, stars, galaxies, and all forms of life — are simulated within a computational framework.
– **Purpose:** Proponents argue the simulation likely serves a purpose, such as solving complex problems, generating knowledge, or exploring scenarios that the creators cannot otherwise access.
– **Fine-Tuning:** The precise values of physical constants in our universe, which allow for life, are cited as possible evidence of purposeful design, implying a simulator might have set these parameters intentionally.
– **Statistical Probability:** If advanced civilizations can create many simulations, then statistically, it is more likely that we exist in a simulation rather than in the “original” base reality.
– **Limits of Perception:** Our understanding of the universe may be inherently limited by the simulation’s design, making it impossible to access the full mathematical or physical reality outside the simulation.
### Possible Evidence and Tests
– **Glitches or Anomalies:** Some suggest searching for inconsistencies in physical laws or unexplained phenomena (e.g., quantum randomness, computational “glitches”) as potential evidence of simulation.
– **Consciousness and Free Will:** The hypothesis raises questions about the nature of consciousness — whether it is emergent within the simulation or predetermined by the underlying code.
– **Energy and Computation:** Arguments against the hypothesis often cite the immense computational power required to simulate an entire universe in detail; proponents counter that the computation could occur outside our observable universe, in the parent reality.
### Philosophical and Scientific Implications
– **Nature of Reality:** If we are simulated, our perceptions and scientific understanding are products of the simulation’s rules, not necessarily of fundamental reality.
– **Purpose and Value:** The simulation could be designed to extract knowledge or answers from its inhabitants, making intellectual activity and problem-solving central to its function.
– **Mortality and Reincarnation:** Some interpretations suggest that effective or valuable “programs” (individuals) could be reused or “reincarnated,” while ineffective ones might be deleted, analogous to software management.
– **Afterlife and Immortality:** Experiences of an afterlife could be program errors or intentional reactivations of previously discarded entities; immortality might be possible through rewriting one’s own “code,” potentially via mental processes rather than physical intervention.
### Corrected and Integrated Insights
– **Computational Constraints:** The argument that the universe cannot simulate itself is flawed; if we are in a simulation, the computational resources exist outside our universe, making internal calculations about computational limits irrelevant.
– **Testing the Hypothesis:** While some propose statistical or physical tests for simulation, most scientists agree that definitive proof is elusive, as a perfect simulation would be indistinguishable from base reality.
– **Role of Life and Intelligence:** Life, especially intelligent and curious beings, may be central to the simulation’s purpose — generating answers or insights that the creators seek. Intellectual laziness or lack of contribution could, in this framework, result in deletion or non-reincarnation.
