My new home under attack.
Last week there was at least three attempts to break in to my new location. The warning signs of installed security system didn’t stop trying. Yesterday I bought additional security material, but being quite busy I left it for a weekend to install it, because so far the old system works fine. Today, coming home earlier than usual, I discovered that someone had again tried to open the lock, in plain daylight, but the sensitive enough alarm had apparently foiled that attempt. The gate is right next to the road where cars and people are moving, it means that the burglar was either on drugs and didn’t care, which in Madeira is quite usual, or had some experience and assistance for lookout.
So, I had to cancel the planned works today on my projects. Instead I spent the entire evening on setting up urgently the additional security measures. There’s nothing really valuable to steal here, except that even that little what I buy for home is making a dent in my finances as I don’t have any paid jobs right now. When I go out I take the important things with me. But apparently the fact of the installed systems, with warning signs on walls outside, make the thieves and burglars to think that there must be something valuable in here, worthy to take the risk to break in.
After decades of work in security and protection that’s just a bad habit of mine, to install rather unnecessary systems to protect my personal space. And I have some surprises for intruders, if they do succeed to break in. I’m just curious who is it? Or perhaps I know already and am just collecting material for my next step? Can’t tell you right now.. will be an interesting story to write later, perhaps even with videos and photos, if I decide to make them public. In any case now it’s too late to take the security systems down, from the almost empty home and garden. Only more will be added in time. Even as here is nothing to take that’s worth selling, it will not be a pleasant feeling if someone succeeds to break in to my new home.
