Works on reducing fire hazard.
Two days ago, on friday, I bought some gardening tools to cut some of the vegetation around home. The idea was to reduce the fire hazard. On the same evening I cleared the larger vegetation from the outside of the territory, the part which was blocking the street a bit, on the other side of the wall. And I also cleaned the drainage system next to the road, so the rain water would flow freely, not coming to my territory.
When I moved in here a week ago I knew there’s a bit of water dripping from the mountain side, into the large water buckets set up for collecting the water. Today I moved one of the pipes which was not placed correctly, and there was a lot of water coming. I waited to see if the larger water flow will stop. It did, but then continued with the pace of a regular tap water quantity. Sometimes the flow slows a bit, and then comes again almost rushing for a while. Why the water flow is not constant is not clear to me at this point. I must still see what happens when there’s some larger rain quantity coming down.
So, now my plans to reduce the vegetation in the garden must be postponed, or scrapped. I need to investigate how much of the water the garden is consuming. If I will cut too much of it, the excess water will flow out of the garden, to the road, and can cause damage. To block the water coming from the mountain is not an option — it will find a way from higher up and can also cause damage. Apparently the garden keeps a perfect balance of water, not growing larger than there’s water available to sustain it.
The free water source is an excellent addition to this location. I’m beginning to love this place ever more. So far I’m bringing water from town — the water here needs to be tested and perhaps some filters installed to use it for drinking.
Electricity I bring also from town, with several large capacity power banks, enough for one week in full charge. Later I will need to install solar panels and it will be a self sustained living here. Well, not completely of course — the place is too small to grow enough diverse food. And of course I don’t produce my own clothes, shoes, bags, smartphones and other gadgets, nor medication or other necessities.. not to talk about producing my own solar panels or even water pipes. Those who speak about living off grid are simply naive or lying to themselves. Even the entire planet earth is not off grid from the rest of the universe — it needs the solar system, and the galaxy, to be in perfect balance for the life on earth to continue.
Anyway, my tiny spot on this planet can be made more comfortable. Here are works to be done, little by little, even though right now I have all I need for a happy life. It doesn’t mean I need to stop advancing my life now — there would be no point in living then if everything is achieved that one needs.
