Noticing old people all around is directly related to my few days of intensive research about publishing and self publishing books, a counterbalance to the idea of publishing my books myself. Staying young and profiting from the beautiful nature here in Madeira is way more enjoyable, even with modest means, than making money by selling my books online.

THE RESEARCH RESULTS

The result of the research: no, I am not impressed by the potential financial benefit counting the time needed for such benefit, if you even ever arrive to that point. Depending on the source, it appears that one should dedicate to the whole process of self publishing way too much time, around two to ten times more time than for writing the book, and on continuous marketing even many years more after the initial push of the book into the market.

I moved to Madeira a month and half ago, leaving almost all my things behind in Paris, not with the intent to spend even more time behind screens than I already do. The old people all around are the reminder to me that if I will not find the perfect formula of meditation for staying in good health for at least several more decades, then there is no point in making money, small or big, without enjoying the nature all around. In case if I do succeed with my meditation method, then to begin the publishing for money now or a few years later, doesn’t make much difference. But if I don’t succeed, then I better enjoy the still relatively healthy years in this paradise on earth, in nature.

As I don’t have a villa in mountains, to sip coffee on terrace within the sounds of nature, while working on publishing and marketing, then that’s not an option for me. I still need to work on my basic income, not to lose it all suddenly, ending up with nothing.. so I better do it in a pleasant way, spending time outdoors as much as possible.

What I learned from the research on self publishing, from the people who do succeed in this, making a decent income, they publish whatever there is currently in trend, creating in fast pace hundreds of basic, low content books in whatever topic is the most profitable out there at this very moment. It’s basically creation of a literature to the audience about what they want to read, producing as a result a useless echo chamber effect with little to no educational value. And apparently people are willing to cash out money to confirm what they already know. Nothing interesting in such business for me, a waste of life.

I may try to publish my books on some platforms just in case, from curiosity so to say, but definitely I am not going to spend my time on all the tricks one needs to perform for a financial success. I’m happy enough with the ways of earning so far, even though I still live in a tent — I cannot afford to rent an apartment or even a room, not before I will find a stable job or another income, be it from donations, sponsors or investments. At this moment, a physical job would keep me happier than spending countless hours watching into screens of my devices.

As a conclusion, I will continue looking for professionals who already know how to publish and market books, and are doing it with passion and dedication. If I do happen to be in the right mood to test out some of the self publishing services, and will have the time besides my priorities in life, then I may give it a try. I keep all my books available for free, on this website/blog, and I leave for you an option to donate, again, just in case, without really expecting much..

THE INVESTMENT PROPOSAL

The recently published offer to invest remains valid. It is needed to buy a reasonably professional video equipment, and to rent a soundproof studio, for creating tutorials on my original handwriting cryptography method. That I would like to do, because one of my hobbies for many years has been the art of filming. All my professional video equipment I gave away to friends in France. It was beginning to get old for the modern standards — my friends can still use it now until the tech will be out of date. Also, bringing it all over to Madeira would have been unreasonable expense. That said, I’m completely happy also without filming, dedicating most of my time for learning new things in different sciences. The science research is a way to potentially improve my meditation method, apart of personal experience and observations of the results while changing the meditation technique from time to time.
