MY BOOKS SHALL REMAIN FREE ON MY WEBSITE/BLOG.
Quite sure that this approach is not the best business practice, but I consider it necessary to keep my books accessible for free at least in one location — on my own website/blog. Money isn’t the source of happiness for me, but sharing the knowledge is. There may be people out there who would greatly benefit from my writings but don’t have the means to pay online, and have no access to printed books neither, in their location. When someone truly feels the need to learn from my books, there shall remain a way to get the writings for free. It doesn’t mean I will be promoting the free access to my books once I will begin publishing somewhere for a pay.
These days, with all the technologial means out there, it doesn’t take long till someone else will give access to your books for free, with certain modifications to the content for not being easily detected as unauthorised copy. So, to avoid such modifications — which may produce misunderstandings of the content, or change the meaning, or reduce the clarity to what something in the book was truly intended — I rather keep my books in their complete form for free to those who have the time to search for the free access.
For the business side of publishing, for it not to be a complete failure, I will only promote the paid versions. Perhaps I will even write some bonus chapters into the books, to the paid versions.
