My ongoing experiments.

Should be obvious that I’m continuing to learn and think about the physics of reality we live in — it is visible from my writings. Perhaps it is not clearly visible though that I’m doing some experiments as well. So this article is about some of my recent and ongoing experiments.

Food.

No diet will make you immortal, but that doesn’t mean one should ignore the quality and quantity of the food. Once the science will be so advanced that no matter what you eat, medicine will fix it, then you can be thinking less about what you eat, but the science isn’t there yet. To improve the chances of being alive when the science will make us relatively immortal, I’m experimenting with different food regimes and look how my body responds.

About a month and half ago I began loosing weight by eating less, before trying out a reduced keto diet. As I can’t afford all that’s needed, having no place to cook and getting ready made food in social places, sometimes also conserved food, then my choices were limited. I did spend some money, actually not a little relative to my means, on meat — mostly smoked chicken — for more protein to that what I was getting for free. I can’t buy more expensive meat as my social benefits here in France were cut last december. But what I do can afford it’s getting detoxicated by not eating. On my height of 187cm, two months ago I had a stable 95kg of body weight. In one month I lost 12kg, dropping my weight down to 83kg, and then began eating well again, mostly keto food. For about a week my weight stayed stable at 85kg, and then I began eating again almost all I was eating before the experiment, just much less bread, fruits and everything else containing too much sugar, in whatever form. Regardless of that, in two weeks my weight returned to 90kg, which I am now at. So, today I decided to begin another detoxification period. It doesn’t mean not eating at all or having any diet, just eating as little as possible to not to be hungry, and to verify weight regularly till it drops to the desired level. For my height, the 83-85kg would be optimal — this was the lowest body weight I had in my 20s. Then I will try a more strict keto diet and will see how my body reacts. I’m still fighting, by free legal means, to get my social benefits returned, so if I’m lucky I will be able to afford a real keto food for some time. During the last trial of keto I had some muscle cramps at night several times, waking me up, forcing me to make deep breathing exercises and to walk around with pain, until the cramps went away. Perhaps some minerals must be added to the keto food. Will see.

Teeth.

I have began an experiment on taking care of the teeth without artificial chemicals. You’ll find an article here..

“toothpaste, toothbrush, etc.”:

https://old.rip/2024/03/17/toothpaste-toothbrush-etc/

Since then, the day before writing the article, I haven’t used a tooth paste a single time, and it feels great without using any chemicals with unknown long term effect. The experiment will take years, to see if my teeth are affected in a good way or bad way, compared to my old habits and the old results.

Sleep.

For several years I’ve been sleeping in a tent, on a relatively hard surface, with only a thin mattress and a blanket separating from the ground. My body is well accustomed and I have been sleeping well. A few weeks ago, after my failed attempt to go to Portugal by hitchhiking, with a tent and perhaps too much stuff to be picked up, I decided to try sleeping without a tent nor a mattress, almost on the ground, having a tarp under me and covering myself with half of the tarp. For couple of weeks the sleep wasn’t comfortable, but by now I sleep again well enough. First it was like only a few hours of sleep and waking up several times, forcing me to take short naps during the day, to recover a bit from tiredness. Now it’s still not a full night sleep as it should, but it’s getting better. Body will get used to.

I have also planned to try to learn to sleep sitting in a foldable chair, as an experiment, but haven’t done it properly yet, only tested the possible positions for such a rest. When traveling without a tent and a sleeping bag, or having no good place to sleep on the ground, it may help. It will need some practice, for my body to adapt, to recall how I did it in the army and during some of my trips in Siberia and Far East when I was in my teens and 20s. As I’m now over 50 then it needs some retraining.

Yet another experiment is on not sleeping at all for a long period of time, but I’m not enforcing it on myself — done it before — so I’m doing a special meditation and see if my body will need less sleep on its own, without forcing to be awake. As with any meditation, the effect will not be immediate, in such a profound physiological sense, so the experiment is ongoing and needs time to see if it makes a difference.

Meditation.

Apart of the specific meditation for less sleep, I keep developing the meditation technique which I have practiced and improved for years. As there’s always something new to learn, from time to time I realize from the recent scientific discoveries how to improve my personal meditation method. That experiment is going on for decades already and so far I’m happy with the results. There are always ways to improve even the best meditation methods that have worked well for years.

Other.

There are some more experiments, related to my personal health issues, like stopping the intake of certain medication and see how my body supports it. As I have written about it before, there are issues with my back and left knee after some accidents decades ago, so the deformities create inflammation and pain. Been taking painkillers for some twenty years I guess, and recently it became too frequent. Almost two months ago I stopped taking the medication completely, going through pain with the power of mind. At the same time I reduced my weight by eating less, trying to get my body to autophagy, which reduces inlammation at least a bit. As those are the physical deformations in the left knee and three vertebrae that cause the inflammation, then it cannot be eliminated completely, but at least I try to get the inflammation down to the level where I can live without taking strong painkillers.
