which toothpaste is the best? well, why would you need one? your saliva is enough, especially when you don’t know exactly what chemicals are in the toothpaste. you do need to brush your teeth though, and to use the right technique to brush the food particles away from teeth, not into and between.
which type of toothbrush should you use? any type will do — the best solution isn’t in the type of toothbrush but in the technique you use to remove food particles after eating. there will definitely remain some food particles no matter how well you clean, but the point is to eliminate larger pieces, so that your saliva will work its natural chemistry faster and better.
and you better use a dental floss, to clean between the teeth. the dental floss you should use even more often than brush, after eating anything, when there is no time to brush. some types of dental floss are covered with chemicals also, and not very healthy ones, so use a pure dental floss only, and wash away the plastic particles as soon as finished flossing.
you could also use other cleaning tools if your particular situation with teeth isn’t allowing proper cleaning with the brush and floss alone. yet the whole cleaning can be done with the saliva only — no toothpaste needed.
there could be cases when a toothpaste is good for you, on certain diseases, but without those specific health issues requiring specific chemicals, with a good diet on a food that is meant for a healthy human consumption, only a physical removal of food particles is needed with no additional chemicals. if the food is right then no bad aftertaste will stay which could justify the use of a toothpaste.
if you have enough time then for the cleanest sensation you should floss between the teeth right after eating, and then 20-30 min later brush the teeth and floss again. you can also brush and floss after eating and then 20-30 min later again, but it will take even more time and is not necessary. the floss-pause-brush-floss is the optimal procedure.
why such detailed approach? because teeth are the only bony structures in human body which are not regenerating. if you have followed my blog(s) for a long time then you know my obsession in staying young and healthy as long as possible. i’ve written countless articles on the subject of longevity and been sharing science news on the topic. even nerve cells are shown to be regenerating in some small amounts, when necessary, but not teeth yet. some living organisms are replacing teeth constantly as they wear off, so i’m confident that the science will one day be able to resolve this issue for humans as well.. but we are not there yet. therefore, a proper care of teeth is a must. what’s the point to live forever with no good teeth, not being able to enjoy the food to its best, in taste and texture.
