there will be a time when some fields of science will stop advancing. this is not because the advancement of a specific knowledge as such will arrive to the limit, but because there will be ever fewer people capable of understanding the ever more complex data. the rest of scientists will still need a job and at some point the voices of majority who cannot understand the whole/true picture of the scientific field, will silence new voices. at that point the field will be dead — every new knowledge generated by those few who do understand, will die together with those few. that will be the limit of knowledge.
